Advanced Placement/Dual Enrollment

Whitney High School offers a wide range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses across various subject areas, including English, mathematics, science, social science, world languages, and the arts, providing students with the opportunity to challenge themselves with rigorous, college-level coursework. AP classes allow students to earn college credit or advanced placement in college, depending on their exam scores and university policies, while also strengthening college applications through demonstrated academic commitment.

In addition to AP courses, Whitney High also provides numerous Dual Enrollment (DE) opportunities in partnership with local colleges, allowing students to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously. Unlike AP, which awards credit based on a standardized exam, dual enrollment grants credit upon successful completion of the course, providing a different pathway to postsecondary readiness.

Together, AP and dual enrollment courses offer Whitney students multiple avenues to get a head start on college, explore future career interests, and save on college tuition.
