Parent University: This presentation is to go over the many options available to students after high school graduation. It also shows how parents can encourage their students to get involved, to grow and build themselves as individuals & begin their exploration of careers or interests that are both financially sound as well as a good fit for their personality, values and quality of life.

The Whitney High School College and Career Center (CCC) provides various resources for college and career planning and much more!
Career Exploration: Access to Self Assessment tests, ASVAB, Career Pathway exploration programs, Career Fairs, Camps & Internships.
Trade/CTE/Apprenticeships: Will help you explore opportunities in the Trades etc. through available camps/internships/classes/programs & assist with options to get there.
Protective Services Occupations/Programs: Will help you explore opportunities in the Protective Services (law enforcement/fire fighting/etc.) through available camps/internships/classes/programs & assist with options to get there.
2 and 4 year Colleges: Explain different types of colleges; explain different majors; Information about Community Colleges/UC & CSU/WUE/ Private Colleges; PSAT/SAT/ACT; Application process including essay help; College Fairs & school rep visits. How to create a college resume including extra curricular activities.
Military Options: Miliary Fairs & visits, ASVAB CEP, individual meetings with branch of choice
Financial Aid: FSA ID & FAFSA workshops, CADAA; Information about the Promise Program at Sierra College
Scholarships: Assist-a-Grad, Outside Scholarships
Work: Assistance with creating a resume/filling out an online application; interview prep; Job Board; Work Permits
Service Learning: Information on why it is important, places that you can volunteer; how to log your volunteer time.
Students are welcome to visit the CCC (located inside the library to the left of the main entrance) before/after school or during lunch to utilize the resources. Whitney's CCC is available from 7:45am - 4:00pm.
